How to judge the quality of a pair of socks?

Mar 23, 2024

Are ingredient labels clearly written? Are there implementation standards? Is there a unified product barcode stipulated by the country: Generally, outdoor running socks have national standard product barcodes, and the ingredients will not be fake or garbled.
Whether the toe part is sewn by hand: After the socks are unloaded from the sock machine, they have a tubular structure. The toe part needs to be sewn into a pocket shape with thread, and the prototype of the sock is born. When sewing the ends, outdoor running sock manufacturers have two methods, manual sewing and machine sewing. The former is an ancient method, which involves aligning each stitch of the socks by hand and then pulling off the excess thread. After stitching, the stitching marks are basically invisible. There is no overlap between the two layers of fabric. They are docked and connected together, which will make them more comfortable to wear. The latter is like a sewing machine that sews two pieces of cloth together with a thread in the middle. To tell if a pair of socks is hand-sewn, simply feel the stitching of the sock with your hands. If there are any protruding stems, it is machine-sewn, otherwise it is artificially sewn.
The reason why I mention this detail is that labor costs are getting higher and higher nowadays. The manual cost of sewing a pair of socks is about 5 cents, and manual sewing requires high vision of the workers, and people over a certain age have eyesight. No, I can't do this job. Those who are willing to sew by hand are basically mid-to-high-end socks.
