How To Choose Protective Gloves?

May 11, 2022

Determining tasks and contact times

The glove you choose depends on the nature of the task to be performed. Will you be exposed to dangerous substances? Will the substances be wet or oily?

The gloves you choose also depend on the nature of the contact with the hazardous material. Is this exposure chronic or intermittent? Are the gloves fully or partially soaked? Which parts of the body need to be protected (hands, wrists, arms)?

PLEASE NOTE: Thin gloves provide less protection than thick, sturdy gloves, but allow for better dexterity for the operator. Therefore, it is a question of a compromise between the level of protection and the flexibility of movement. Short gloves are suitable for simple splashes, but if it is a full immersion, choose gloves longer than the depth of the immersion.

Consider the operator's comfort

The glove must be comfortable for the user and should not be too large or too small as this may interfere with the operator's work. Please refer to the size guide provided by the manufacturer to find the correct glove size.

PLEASE NOTE: If you can't find a glove that fits your size, it's better to choose a smaller glove than a larger glove.

Latex allergies need to be prevented, which is becoming more common. In this case, there are alternatives such as nitrile.

Finally, hands sweat inside the glove, which can be annoying to the operator. To reduce the effects of sweat, cotton gloves can be worn under protective gloves.
